Halloween

Halloween … a holiday celebrated yearly on the night of October 31.

It’s all about creepy stories, horror movies, scary costumes, trick or treat, darkness, the full moon … and … for me above all … pumpkins :d!!

This year 7 of them were hand carved at my place. 2 of them are shining at my sister’s home and the other 5 are guarding our front door.

These were the 7 chosen patrons this year:

Upcoming Christmas

I love Christmas …

The thing about this year is that most people around me are losing the spirit of the season. Claiming it to be ordinary or to not even liking it, anymore and even … never did. They throw the season away b/c that’s all it is to them, another season, another time of year that passes by just the same. They throw it away w/o opening their hearts to it … but how can you love anything, if you don’t allow yourself to feel it …

I love Christmas, not b/c of the commercial hype, although I have to admit that it’s getting worse every year … but some part of me agrees to it … sometimes I also need that extra reminder, that extra ray of light to show me hope, that extra ornament that is just impossible to ignore to remind me that it is not just another time of year …
Some might call these people crazy … but at least they cared enough, at least they loved enough, at least they felt … or at least they want to feel …

The holiday season … the Christmas spirit … if you can’t feel it, there’s nothing on this earth that could help you understand … it’s not about the presents, it’s not about the ornaments, it’s not about who lights up their house most … it’s about family, it’s about coming together as one and making them feel like kings and queens, listened to during the year, special just as they are … it’s about bringing smiles and showing you care …

The Christmas spirit … you can smell it when you step outside, you breath it in and it flows through you vains bringing a smile to your face, knowing that it is not just another season … it’s the time of year that invites you on a journey that only a heart open to it can undertake … if you can’t feel it, nothing on this earth can help you understand …

In comes the new … out goes the old …

Once in a while it’s time to let the new come in and give the old a chance to retire … the same goes for the TV in my room …

The TV in my room had been suffering from the “green-dot-in-the-middle-of-the-screen” disease everytime I turned it off, even unplugged it, for a while now. But, my dad assured me that as long as I kept unplugging it after viewing, there was no chance it could explode, so I still felt pretty safe around it … plus you couldn’t see any of it while it was playing, so I didn’t really feel the need yet to replace it … (ok ok, you could argue that I’m way too attached to my things ;) ) …

But, anyway … yesterday, my dad comes home and he says that he just bought something, a surprise for me … and ow yeah … it was a black sweet thin TV :d … and I am completely loving it :d

I said goodbye to my old one:

And I said hello to my new one, a 23″ LCD TV from Samsung:

Yahoo Time Capsule

Some wise words from Yahoo:

“You and what matters to you, preserved for eternity.
Hundreds of years now, people will wonder about this time and place. Now’s your chance to tell them what you and your world, your art, your culture and your tradition were all about in 2006.”

This time capsule sounds like a pretty nice thing to get involved in … still 15 days to go to contribute to it … it may not be a lot, it may not even mean a thing to anyone … but it will be your voice out there … for eternity …

If there would be one thing you’d want to live on forever … what would it be ?

… 15 days ;)

New look

I’ve been planning on this for a while now, but I never seemed to find the time for it … but today, I sat myself down and actually did it … I changed the look of my blog. If you saw my previous one, you’ll notice that it’s COMPLETELY different ;)

The eyes are the window to the soul

I recently came across this well written article on the power of eye contact. It’s a very nice read and it kinda invites me to actually try it out …

So, if you’re bored, don’t know what to do, want to try something new, want to experiment, want to just act as crazy as you really are … read it and try it … join me in my newest quest ;)

Play: Non Actief

I know you can pretty much call me a movie addict, but I do also once in a while enjoy a more cultural event. Last night, a group of friends and I went to see the annual play of Agnetencomedie. This year the play they performed was called Non Actief.

The song One of Us by Joan Osborne captured the crowd and guided their spirits to the Convent revealed on the well-decorated stage in front of us. The lights faded completely and we found ourselves all at the mercy of the nuns.
