Lord of War 0

Don’t go to war, especially with yourself
Best song in the movie: Hallelujah – Jeff Buckley

Yuri Orlov is a gunrunner, supplying guns to some of the most vile and saddistic men calling themselves leaders today.

Maybe you could say that his wife, Ava, is right when she says that she refuses to fail as a a human being, and decides to leave him. Yuri tried to change for her, but to him it isn’t just a job, it isn’t about the money, he does it b/c he can, b/c he’s good at it.

It reminds me about the story of the frog and the scorpion.
The scorpion needed to get to the other side of the river, so he asked the frog if he could jump on his back and get a ride over. The frog, of course, replied “but how do I know that you won’t sting me. The scorpion laughed and said if I do, then we’ll both drown, won’t we?!? The frog knew he was right, so he allowed the scorpion to jump on his back and he started the journey over. In the middle of the river, though, suddenly the scorpion stung the frog. The frog not understanding asked “Why? Now, we’ll both die”. The scorpion sighed and replied “Sorry, but it’s in my nature”.

Like Yuri concludes at the end of this spectacular movie, you can try, but in the end you can’t go against your nature.

“The secret to surviving is don’t go to war, especially with yourself”
